SKI/SNOWBOARD EQUIPMENT RENTALS
We have a limited selection of quality ski and snowboard equipment for hire at the lodge. Once you arrive at the lodge we will help you find the right equipment for you.
Most rental stores cater for western sizes, however, if you have a very large foot size or special request we recommend booking your equipment prior to arrival. Most rental stores have English speaking staff and a great selection equipment for all ski and snowboard levels. You should budget for approximately ¥4000 per day for a full set of ski/snowboard equipment not including clothing.
All equipment can be pre-booked, and Central Snow sports provide a valet service picking you up from Hakuba House, fitting you out, and then dropping you back off, taking all the hassle out of the process.
SKI/SNOWBOARD LESSONS
During peak times we recommend booking your lesson prior to arrival to avoid disappointment.
SIJ and HSS - Provide the Highest Quality Lessons in Hakuba and all over Japan. Employing only fully certified, international ski and snowboard instructors, SIJ guarantee quality instruction for your snow vacation.

TOURS
MONEY
ATMs: 7-11 convenience stores have ATM’s for VISA and PLUS cards. If you have a MasterCard or MAESTRO or CIRUS cards you can withdraw cash at the Post Office ATM. Both ATM's have limited operating hours. ALL banks in Hakuba are closed between Dec 30th and Jan 4th, so please plan ahead if travelling during the New Years period.
Credit cards:Japan is a cash-based society and not many vendors accept credit cards. You can pay for your lift tickets on credit card but most restaurants only accept cash.
Money exchange: We recommend AGAINST cash currency exchange. Foreign money exchange is very difficult and you get a much lower exchange rate than using your ATM card.
Travelers Cheques: DO NOT bring travellers cheques. They are almost impossible to exchange.
CHILD CARE
Hakuba House provides limited child care services in the evenings when parents go out to dinner on a few nights a week.
For day care services for children up to the age of 5 old we recommend Happo Kids Club at Sakka Snow Plaza just 500 metres down the road. Opening Period: Dec 20 2009 - Mar 29 2010 | Hours of operation: 8am - 5pm. Please ensure you book ahead to avoide missing out.

CAR HIRE
INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS LICENCE IS ESSENTIAL. If you choose to hire a care in Japan for driving in Hakuba make sure it has 4WD and Snow Tires and a Satellite Navigation System with English instructions. For families with small children we highly recommend car hire as it provides independence and flexibility with getting around town.
TOKYO AIRPORT
Most major companies have a location in Tokyo Airport including; Avis, Hertz, Alamo and Europcar. The most affordable car rental deals can be found here;
TAXI
There are a few taxi companies in Hakuba. Taxis cannot, however, be flagged down on the street. If you need a taxi, just walk into any restaurant or hotel and they will call one for you. All taxis in Hakuba finish at 2am
